GENERAL CONDITIONS
SESSIONS & ENDING THERAPY
Sessions take place at regular intervals, at a time agreed between us.
Each session lasts usually for 50 minutes if indoor, and 60 min for outdoors or remote sessions.
We will review our work together regularly and this might lead to a mutual decision to end the therapy. Once the decision to end has been taken, we will agree an end date between us and work towards it.
FEES & PAYMENT
The session fee agreed between us has to be paid at each session by cash or card.
For outdoor and remote sessions, I’ll send you a link via email for you to proceed to the payment.
Fees are regularly reviewed and you’ll be notified in advance of the potential changes.
MISSED SESSIONS & CANCELLATIONS
There is a 48 hours cancellation notice and late cancellations will be subject to a charge of 50% of the fee. No charged fee when I’m cancelling a session.
On the odd occasion, we might need to rearrange the day or time of our meeting and I will do my best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee it.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The content of our sessions remain strictly confidential within my therapy practice.
As per my professional ethical code, I discuss my work with my supervisors and during these meetings, we always ensure your anonymity.
Yet if it appears that your own or the safety of others around you is at risk, or if the law requires me to, I’ll be required to contact someone who’s appropriate for the situation.
Refer also to my privacy policy to learn more.
SOCIAL MEDIA
If you would like to start therapy with me, all therapy enquiries should be made by email only and not via my professional profile on these platforms, in order to ensure the protection of your privacy as well as of our therapeutic relationship. If you happen to follow me, I will not follow you back. And I would also recommend that you do not share any personal information or comment on these public pages, or I might have to remove it.
These sites are not secure and my primary concern and duty is to protect your privacy and confidentiality.
PROFESSIONAL REGULATION
Please, note that I follow the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society’s code of ethics and work under English law jurisdiction, irrespectively of where you are based during our sessions.
OUTDOOR SESSIONS / ECOTHERAPY
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES & SAFETY
At times, we might have to negotiate around elements like noises, weather, temperature, type of terrain, animals.
Please, inform me if you have serious allergies to plants or insects, or any other important health issues.
In case of extreme weather, the session will be cancelled or moved online or indoor, if possible.
I have an outdoor first-aid certificate and carry a first-aid kit with me.
However while I assess the location for our sessions, any outdoor activity entails known and unanticipated risks and you still need to assume the full responsibility of your own well-being and safety.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes and dress according to the weather and season. Bear in mind that we’ll be sitting or moving at a leisurely pace, so you might get colder than you think.
CONFIDENTIALITY
In outdoor work, it’s not always possible to maintain complete confidentiality at all times. So we’ll need to discuss and decide together what we’ll do if someone or a group of people come into our direction, or if we pass someone that either you or I do know.
REMOTE SESSIONS
TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS
We will use Zoom for our remote sessions, as it is a secure and encrypted platform. You will also have to make sure that you find a private and quiet physical space which will guaranty the confidentiality of our communication, as well as using a secure and stable Internet connection.
For sessions over the phone, make sure that you turn off your wifi and bluetooth and activate the « do not disturb » function of your phone.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
If a technical issue should arise during our remote session, if possible, we will continue the session by phone or try to find an alternative date.
SAFETY
To ensure your safety as much as possible, I will need to know where you are at each start of the session.
And we will discuss together a possible emergency protocol, taking into account the remote conditions of our sessions.
BEFORE & AFTER SESSIONS
Meeting online or on the phone means you don’t necessarily travel to and from your appointment. It is therefore good practice to prepare yourself for a few minutes before you start the session so that you feel ready for it. Likewise, after a session, it is a good idea to give yourself some time to readjust before you go back to your daily life. You can create a little routine or ritual for yourself like having a cup of tea before and after, or lighting a candle and sitting a few minutes on your own.
